From Aarhus to New Orleans
Brought together by a shared love of the music that has come out of New Orleans over the past 100 years, the musicians of Vooo Ca Ray found each other in the Aarhus music scene.
The band has been together for almost a decade and has been the house band at HeadQuarters in Aarhus, where their concert series A Night in New Orleans has been a great success.
Now Vooo Ca Ray is taking the next step, presenting original compositions rooted in the New Orleans tradition — music that honours its origins while bringing its own contemporary voice. The result is a vibrant gumbo of second line grooves, raw rhythms and strong melodies, carrying forward the legacy of artists such as Fats Domino and Dr. John — an organic blend of jazz and rhythm & blues with deep roots and a contemporary edge.
